On Tuesday 27 October 2026, at the Hall des sports in Saint-Joseph, I spoke at the professional meetings and talks of FIA 26 Caraïbe, the Caribbean Animated Image Festival. The title: The Chicken and the Easter Egg. The question: what makes us make a video game?

The chicken and the egg
On one side, the chicken: the studio, production, the works. On the other, the egg: the game jam, the festival, the event. Which should come first? Here, we started with the egg.

Partying as a skill
Our method is the party. It is not necessarily the right method. It is ours. And it is not the easy way out: bringing people together, mobilising them, making them want to come. Knowing how to draw a crowd is a real skill.

An inspiring path
E.sy Kennenga, permanent resident at 150 m d’altitude: 25 years of guitar, a classical training. Slow work that nobody sees.

What an event should leave behind
A simple test, to ask after every event. Is there anything left:
- works that did not exist before;
- people trained, who carry on without us;
- contacts you can call back the next day;
- a network that serves the next project?

And what do I do?
- We pass it on: Mocap Week, an event about passing on skills, and the Laboratoire ouvert des apprentissages (open learning lab), with a partnership in Canada.
- We produce: a motion capture production for France Télévisions, to step over to the other side myself.
- We connect: CFCDB, a platform to bring talent together.
It is not a list of achievements. It is what I am finding out along the way.

The Easter egg
In a game, the Easter egg is the secret hidden for those who take the time to look. And what we hide in our parties is the work done beforehand.

And then?
I ended on an open question: after this party, what do you do? I do not have the answer. Tell me yours, and join us at cfcdb.org.

Watch the talk
The talk is in the recording of the festival’s first day, starting at 2:18.
The announcement of the day, with the ANISOTROPIE and Cariality stand: FIA 26 Caraïbe: a talk and a stand.
